Hackfeld & Company instructing all employees : On account of the existing strained relations between the United states and the Empire of Germany employees of this firm are requested to refrain from any utterance which may be construed as criticism or denouncement of this policy adoped ty the United States of its chief Executive. While the management deprecates the existing conditions, it will insist upon proper and dignified conduct of its employees. Honolulu, T. H., February 3, 1917. Employees were required to sign it.
